Brown Brothers Single Vineyard Shiraz Mondeuse Cabernet
King Valley
Available in cartons of six
Originally formulated by John Charles Brown OBE in 1954 and crafted to this very day in the exact same manner. Mondeuse plantings were brought to Australia in the early 1900s by the legendary Francois de Castella of St Hubert fame, they have remained the most precious parcel of Brown Brothers heirloom vines since the 1920s. At Milawa, Mondeuse translates into an inky, deeply tannic wine, it forms synergies with the sweet fruit plumpness of Shiraz and statuesque elegance of Cabernet Sauvignon to coalesce into a rich, opulent style of eloquence and structure.

Mondeuse is renowned for its resilience, generosity of harvest and robust flavours. Assembled from a half part Shiraz, the balance in Cabernet Sauvignon and Mondeuse from the finest plantings at Milawa in Valley King, components are treated to the same course of vinification pioneered by John C Brown in the 1950s. Shiraz is crushed into fermenters, followed by Cabernet Sauvignon and lastly by Mondeuse. The co ferments integrate the individual characters, infuse marvelous colour, build flavour and optimize tannin richness. Upon completion, ferments are filled to a selection of seasoned and new American oak puncheons and barriques for an extravagant two years maturation.

Bullant Langhorne Creek Cabernet Merlot
Langhorne Creek
Available by the dozen
It was lunch in the vineyard as it ticked past 12 o'clock, when I saw a sight I'll never forget on that red soiled block. It started with a shuffle but turned into a dance. The boys shook about like they wanted out of their pants! As it turned out they were losing a fight. Trying to avoid the bullants, and boy can they bite. They ran from the block and couldn't be seen, until they returned much later with a can of Mortein! We've since dealt with those bullants and they no longer bite. But their memory still lingers when we pour a glass of Bullant each night.

Parcels of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon are picked at optimum ripeness off old vines grown to family owned and operated vineyards around the rich flood plains of Langhorne Creek. The well drained soils receive a deposition of silt during the annual floods, which ensures that the fertility remains at a high level. Maceration of the grapes whilst on skins has imparted to the Bullant an excellent array of varietal flavours, deep colours and silky textures. A ripe, full bodied wine which has integrated beautifully after fifteen months maturation in a selection of the finest oak.

Deep red purple in colour. A lifted aroma of blackberries with a touch of mocha. The palate is rich and satisfying with wonderful textural mouthfeel, finishing on a note of soft, polished tannins. As with all efforts by Lake Breeze wines, Bullant over delivers in quality, exhibiting vibrant fruit flavours and great palate richness. Best consumed with roast lamb or white meat bangers.
