Schild Estate's reputation is built on a commitment to translating the unique tapestry of vineyards into wines that speak of honesty and drinkability. Schild's Shiraz is another fine example of a classic regional style sourced exclusively from vines grown toward the southern end of Barossa Valley and the Schild Estate Angus Brae property. Fully ripened grapes are harvested throughout the cool of night. After crushing the musts are vinified in traditional open fermenters and given extended time on skins to carefully extract the full amount of colour, flavour and complexity. The wine is then treated to an extended maturation in a selection of new and prior use French and American oak hogsheads.

Vibrant, deep rich red colour. A nose of ripe cherries and plum, dark chocolates, christmas cake spice and vanillin undertones derived from the extended maturation in fine oak. A middle palate of vibrant, dark berry fruit is supported by clearly defined yet elegant tannin framework and some balanced acidity to provide structure and length. Long and lingering, bright, aromatic acids and a powerful intensity of fruit.

Scotchmans Hill Pinot Noir
Bellarine
Available in cartons of six
One of Australia's most perennially feted and esteemed Pinot Noir, generously flavoured, brilliantly balanced, stylish and approachable. The Geelong/ Bellarine area has a long history of viticulture, which dates back to colonization by Swiss immigrants in the 1840s. Curiously, Pinot Noir is a wine that performs well in the cooler climes of the lower Swiss Alps. It remained however for Scotchmans Hill to establish Geelong as one of Australia's leading winegrowing regions, due in no small part to the quality and consistency of their splendid Pinot Noir.

From some of Victoria's finest Pinot Noir vines, planted to volcanic clays over basalt limestone subsoils, trained to vertical shoot positioning and moderated by Port Phillip Bay's revitalizing maritime winds on Bellarine Peninsula. Clones MV6, 114 Burgundy, 115 Burgundy & D5V12 up to thirty years of age, yielding 1½kg per vine, 1½tn per acre. The Bellarine Peninsula's role in the development of the Australian wine industry began in 1842, when vines were planted in the surrounding Barrabool Hills. Grown and managed mainly by Swiss immigrants, these vineyards yielded wines which were sold through regular auctions in the city of Geelong. Established in 1982, Scotchmans Hill has become a producer of some of Australia's most complex, elegant and consistent wines. Shiraz vines, clone PT23 are trained to vertical shoot positioning. Fruit is fermented in small open top pots, hand plunged and left on skins for three weeks, followed by a year's maturation in a selection of new to four year old French Troncais oak barriques.

Deep vibrant purple. A complex and rich nose of dark fruit, plums and black cherry, complemented by spice, earth and clove, over a charry oak background. Fully flavoured cool climate, sweet and savoury palate, dark fruits make way to red plum and cherry, spices and briar are supported by firm acid and fine grained tannins. Scotchmans finishes balanced, structured and long, a Shiraz of intensity and charm.
