Following decades of devoted viticulture, Plunkett Fowles have accumulated extensive local knowledge of soils and microclimes peculiar to the Strathbogie Ranges. Their efforts have crystallised into some of Victoria's most memorable wines. Stone Dwellers represents the fruits of labour and of experience, the best varietal expressions from Strathbogie Ranges each and every vintage. Roughly equal portions Shiraz are sourced from the estate's Whitegate and Upton Run Vineyards, to construct a wine with a generous palate and vibrant aromatic lift.

$2699each $323DOZEN EACH DOZEN The Strathbogie Ranges are inland, cool and elevated, characterised by ancient granite boulders. The soils are typically sandy clay loam overlying orange clays of varying depths. Shiraz is sourced from a number of blocks from within the Whitegate and Upton Run properties to increase complexity. Grapes are harvested and crushed, inoculated to a Cote du Rhone isolate yeast and vinified at 23ËšC to 28ËšC in high tech sweep arm fermenters to maximise colour and flavour intensity while preserving primary fruit flavours. Upon completion, the finished wine is matured in a mix of American and French new oak barrels and older 300 litre oak hogsheads.

A deep, dark red. Aromas of dark chocolate, red fruits and that characteristic pepper and spice from the Strathbogie Ranges. Big, rich and dense with lovely fine grained tannins. Stone Dwellers is pleasingly dry, has balanced alcohol, graceful tannins and refreshing acids. A medium to full bodied wine with structure and very good length, ideally suited to seared beef with kipflers & redwine jus.

The pictuesque Plunkett Fowles vineyards occupy choice sites throughout the rolling plateaux at the heights of the Strathbogie Ranges. The quality of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grown here are clearly within the Ivy League of the finest Victorian fruit. An assemblage of roughly equaly proportions Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The white grapes share their origin equally between a variety of blocks within the Plunkett Fowles Upton Run and Whitegate Vineyards. The black grapes are drawn exclusively from the Trevor's Block at Whitegate.

$2699each $323DOZEN EACH DOZEN Grapes are picked early and harvested throughout the cool of the night to ensure fruit temperature are low , thereby preserving primary fruit characters. The Pinot Noir grapes were whole bunch pressed, a process which minimises phenollic extraction and bitterness, leading to a more delicate wine. Batches are inoculated to culture EC1118, a strong competitive yeast which possesses the ability to ferment at low temperatures, create good flocculation and has excellent alcohol tolerance. Vinified in tank at 15ËšC to preserve primary fruit flavours, fermented to dryness, the wine was kept on its lees to add complexity. Stone Dwellers was held on secondary fermentation lees for a short period prior to bottling.

Lively appearance, creamy and long lasting with a continual fine bread. Bouquet shows bright citrus aromas with peach notes and some yeasty complexity. It has off-dry residual sugar, balanced alcohol, soft balanced tannins and refreshing acid. To accompany hors d'oeuvre, a pungent camembert or smoked mussels.

Grapes on the vine are subject to daily and hourly inspections, intensive hand picking ensures the quality of fruit. A minimal intervention is the critical element. Every bottle is hand crafted and bears the family seal of approval. Summerfield yield to the demands of the fruit, extractions are optimised, the oak maturation is designed to enunciate the terroir while framing the excellence of fruit.

Originally planted to Shiraz in the 1970s, Summerfield vineyard borders Taltarni. The earliest harvests were actually sold to them, along with the illustrious houses of Great Western and Chateau Remy, now known as Seppelt and Blue Pyrenees. This is the style of Shiraz which placed Victoria's Pyrenees on the world wine map. The palate fills with winegum tannins, dark brooding fruits, plums, berries and spice, finishing with incredible length. No other appellation makes such majestic Shiraz, this is what Summerfield's old vines are all about, it only gets better from here.

They ventured into viticulture in the 1970s planting ten acres of predominantly Shiraz vines, now providing the backbone of fruit for Summerfield Reserve. The estate has continued to make wines in a traditional way. Grapes are all handpicked, treate to an old world open vat fermentation, basket pressed and treated to a luxurious term in the most extravagant new oak.

An assemblage of Chardonnay from the right side of Port Philip Bay. A backbone of fruit from the Scotchman's vineyards is supported by parcels grown to good vineyards around Bellarine and Geelong. A refreshing and flavoursome fruit driven, yet texturally rich Chardonnay of quality and consistency year to year, designed to be enjoyed in it's youth.

$2049each $245DOZEN EACH DOZEN Established 1982, Scotchmans Hill has become a producer of some of Victoria's most perennially loved, elegant and consistent wines. Swan Bay Chardonnay is an assemblage of cool climate wines from good vineyards around Geelong and the Strathbogie Ranges. Most of the juices, approximately two thirds, are treated to a lavish oak barrel vinification to enhance the finished wine with creamy characters and fine cashew complexity, the balance is sent to fermenters for the retention of zippy Bellarine acidity and vitally fresh fruit characters. The barrel ferment component is treated to six months maturation in a selection of fine French oak barriques.

Pale gold with green hues. Nectarine and white peach with citrus fruits dominating the bouquet. This is complimented by creamy overtones, spice and cedar oak. Up-front fruit flavours of nectarine, white peach, melon and lemon citrus with a mineral edge throughout the palate. A generous Chardonnay mouthfeel, creamy and nutty oak characters round out the wine, which has a long, lingering back palate.

The higher altitudes of Adelaide and balmy aspects of Bellarine are the pre-eminent Australian microclimes for growing Pinot Grigio. Components from good vineyards have been assembled around a core of estate grown Scotchmans Hill fruit to achieve the consummate Italianate varietal wine in refreshing, new world styling. An intense expression of pear, guava and citrus, fleshy with a mineral backbone. It displays zesty pear and citrus characters, offers great intensity and varietal complexity before lingering on a clean flavoursome finish.

$2049each $245DOZEN EACH DOZEN Scotchmans Hill grows suitable grape varieties in appropriate mesoclimates around the more salubrious viticultural districts of Victoria. The estate's wineworks at Geelong boasts an extensive temperature controlled 8000 cubic metre barrel storage room with 900 one to three year old French barriques, Alliers and Nevers, Troncais and Vosges. Great emphasis is placed on the delicate vinification and elevage processes required for complex and balanced wines. Pinot Grigio is sourced from specialised vineyards, trained to yield harvests of exceptional quality Pinot Grigio. The majority of parcels are treated to a closed tank ferment, the balance is vinified in French oak barriques.

Mid straw colour. Lifted nose of nashi pear and honeysuckle, leading to a bath salt perfume and background of ripe fruits. Full and ripe palate with nashi and stonefruits, a mid palate richness with bath salts and honey characters at the finish. The wine is supported by firm acid, a mineral backbone, and has a long, lingering aftertaste.

Located on the Bellarine Peninsula, Swan Bay was named by Commander Matthew Flinders in 1803. The wines of Swan Bay are fruit driven in style, offering unbeatable consistency and quality, generous in flavour and designed to be enjoyed young. Grapes are sourced from the best vineyards and vinified at the salubrious Scotchmans Hill wineworks. A rejuvenating style of Pinot Noir, offering excellent mid palate weight and silky tannins, balanced by firm cherry acidity.

Deep garnet colour. Rich perfumed nose of plum and strawberry fruit with violet notes, spice and a touch of earthiness in the background. Juicy yet savoury palate of fresh strawberry, plum and raspberry fruits; spice and earthy notes supported by a charry oak finish. The palate is medium bodied with excellent mid-palate weight, silky tannins, and balanced by firm acidity. A very good match to a wide spectrum of foods.
