Barossa

An assemblage of old vines Grenache and Shiraz with a smaller portion of Mataro, grown to the Kalleske's organic farm. Named after Troy Kalleske's ninety year old grandfather Clarence, who farmed the vineyards from the late 1920s until his retirement in the 1990s. Clarry was the fourth generation to tend vines on the family farm, established by his great grandparents who migrated from Prussia aboard the Prince George in 1838. Many years were spent by Clarry pruning, hand picking and nurturing the Kalleske vineyards.

Clarry's is a 100% Organic wine as certified by Australian Certified Organic, grown, vintaged and matured on the Kalleske estate at Greenock. The Grenache is from vines dating back to the 1940s, Mataro and Shiraz and Mataro are sourced from a number of blocks, characterised by shallow, sandy loam over superb deep red clay and limestone, providing ideal conditions for viticulture. All components are vinified separately in open top fermenters and pumped over by hand twice daily. After a week or two on skins, ferments are treated to a traditional pressing. To preserve the superb fresh fruit flavours of Grenache, Mataro and Shiraz, components are aged exclusively in very old oak hogsheads for a few short months.

Bright red purple colour. Lifted aromatics of bright red fruit, crushed raspberry, cherry perfume, white pepper spice and rose florals. The medium bodied palate is bursting with fresh juicy red fruits, rhubarb, raspberry and black cherry. Natural chalky tannins add backbone and structure. Maturation in seasoned oak adds complexity while respecting the purity of fruit, lingering finish, an opulent fruit driven wine.
Kalleske Rosina Grenache Shiraz Viognier
Barossa
Available by the dozen
Anna Rosina, together with husband Karl Heinrich, established and farmed the Kalleske vineyard from 1853 until the 1880s. They were amongst the earliest pioneers in the salubrious Barossa winegrowing village of Greenock. Old vines still eclipse the property and a 1940s planting of Grenache forms the backbone of Rosina. A component of Shiraz and a dash of Viognier contribute wonderful complexity. A juicy, mouthwatering Rosé with plenty of fruit and a touch of restrained sweetness, from grapes harvested early in the season to capture vibrancy.

A completely hand crafted rose, vintaged and matured on the Kalleske property. All vines are hand pruned and planted to sandy loam soils over deep red clay. Grapes are harvested to a schedule specifically tailored for the creation of a Rose wine, as they begin to display vibrant refreshing qualities with crisp acidity and solid flavour intensity. Following the crush, juices remain in contact with skins for a few hours to infuse subtle hues prior to pressing. Juices are wild yeast vinified in a combination of fermenters and oak for added complexity. Following a spell of maturation on sedimentery lees, a small amount of unfermented juice is added to impart a touch of natural fruit sweetness.

Vivid rose petal colour. Lifted floral perfume, musk, strawberry and freshly crushed raspberry aromas. The juicy palate displays vibrant, fresh fruit characters with a balanced acidity complimented by restrained grape sweetness. A creamy textural richness adds depth and character to a deeply flavoursome Rose as it resolves on a generous lingering finish. Enjoy with slamon steak, weisswurst or vietnamese cuisine.
