The soils on the steep ridge that runs through central Victoria date back to seismic events between 488 and 542 million years ago which have blessed the Heathcote area a bountiful legacy of rich ferrous soils, idyllic for the production of world class Shiraz. The region produces exquisite, complex flavoured wines that can be enjoyed young yet possess the qualities for extended ageing and development. A low yielding vintage from another drought ravaged year yielded intensely flavoured grapes, harvested from mature vines in February, to be vinified and aged until bottling the ffollowing January.
